Just starting out

So often we tend to get bogged down within our job title. Yes, I am a music teacher. It's what I've wanted to do for most of my life. Now that I have accomplished this goal and am underway in my profession though, the title feels a bit heavier than I originally expected. It's as if you're on-call all the time. I only work the normal teacher hours but I cannot stop being a teacher when I go out in public. When I'm out to eat with my husband or just shopping by myself I am a music teacher. It follows me around. I knew from the start that it would be this way; I just didn't understand the extent to which the title goes. My name isn't even on this blog because many people think that I am not more than a music teacher and would judge some things that I might have to say or discuss. I love what I do - don't get me wrong. Being a music teacher is a lot of me, but there's more. I wanted a place to fully be me without holding back or dealing with consequences. This is me. A lot of this will probably sound like rambling, venting and just plain crap. You will more than likely not find organization here. Oh well. Read it or leave it.
